Activist Art
Artistic expression serves as one of the strongest instruments that can be found in an activist artist’s toolbox since it can be put to use to effectively challenge injustice, provoke the neglected, or incite change in political or social affairs. This type of art can be defined as not only something that exists for visual appreciation, rather deeply related to advocacy, protest, and most importantly, raising awareness. It tends to deal with the suffering caused by human rights violations, destruction of the environment, racism, and political tyranny.”\
The concept of activist art is not new. It existed, though not in a wide scope, but its inclusions within the timeframe of the 1960s and 1970s aids in silencing the noise from the ongoing hugely profound activist movements from all corners of the globe life enabling juxtaposition. But, from fierce civil rights confrontations and wars to anti-violence disturbances, the call of most of the artists was a revolution since their artworks offered vivid images, execution, and manipulations.
“Such art can be presented by means of walls, marking boards, songs, choreography, animated pictures, and many other types. The various techniques are fused with a common goal, to affect change in the ordinary stereotypical ways of thinking and behavior in every part of society. For members of an activist group, they see these artistic works as instruments of power.
