Contemporary Art
Contemporary refers to art that is currently being produced in this modern era, which handles and portrays different cultures and societies in today’s world. This concept covers a broad spectrum of artistic works in different forms alongside painting, sculpture, installation, and performing arts as well as video and photography. Contemporary art emerged in the late twentieth century, and is still evolving. It goes beyond what is accepted and done in traditional art, often straining the limits of imagination and creativity, as well as cultural acceptability. Defining features of contemporary art include a high level of abstraction, conceptual originality, and radicalism. Contemporary art deals with many aspects including but not limited to identity, politics, technology, and globalization. Contemporary artists care about what is going on in the world and are able to comment and criticize through their works. Some prominent figures in contemporary art include Banksy, Yayoi Kusama, Ai Weiwei, just to mention a few, each contributing His/her own greatly recognized style.   As the scope of contemporary art is wide, it is defined by an ever flowing response to present day trends, society and cultures. modern art expects an audience that is ready to engage in an interpretation of the artwork, whether divided or in agreement. These modern artists try to do whatever they want by bringing new materials, technologies, novel ideas, and shifts on what is defined as a piece of art with striking changes on the influences left on the society and the world of art itself.
