Collage
Collage is the cutting and pasting of several different materials together into one coherent piece. These materials could be images, text, fabric, or anything else that can fir into the desired aesthetic. This technique became mainstream with Dadaism in the 20th century and then Surrealism, where revolutionary culture and arts changes were occurring. Pioneering collage artists who challenged traditionalism included Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque and Hannah Hoch. They didn’t just transform collages - they transformed everything. In addition to art, collage becomes politically important, as culture starts using it’s different parts to reject traditional means of representation It combines them into new forms and meanings. It's this disorganization that inspires so many modern artists.”
