Georgian Art
The term ‘Georgian Art' describes the beautifully diverse artwork which originated in the country of Georgia located in the intersection of Europe and Asia. Georgian Art has traits from the East and the West, and incorporates various painting and sculpture as well as architecture and decorative arts.
The country’s location on the Silk Road and bordering empires greatly influenced Georgian Art throughout history, because of which it featureed strong cultural exchanges. Georgian art vividly reflects colorful and intricate patterns along with symbolic motifs whilst incorporating features from Byzantine, Persian, and Caucus.
Georgian Art is at its peak was during Medieval Age, especially in religious temple iconography and fresco. Truly gifted artists like Damiane, Tevdore, Kirile contributed by their brilliant artwork and heavily transformed the art culture in Georgia.
In the modern Georgian era, the country has comes to life again and is able to enjoy international acclaim thanks to contemporary artists like Gia Gugushvili and Rusudan Petviashvili. This renewal depicts an enthusiastic willingness to master and love the art from Georgia while diversifying into newer regions of creativity.
