Artwork Igor Selemenev - Subjektiv.art

"I care about personal connection, but only the one where each of us pays attention to each other. I don't work with galleries. I express myself through my works but happy to have a conversation with you. We are too lonely, too atomised. I am deeply inspired by David Hopper and Vermeer as well as Hieronymus Bosch. The colours, the light and the human condition in-between." Igor Selemenev (b. 1972, Ukraine) is a multidisciplinary artist who explores themes of existence and transition. "My works are not about escaping into emptiness, but about crossing it," he explains, emphasizing the depth of his artistic intent. Selemenev primarily works with monochrome, figurative lithography, referring to himself as a "labourer" in the creative process. He favours offset ink and has experimented with different mediums, including scanning and enlarging his works into pixelated forms on felt cardboard, and craft paper for exhibitions. In addition to printmaking, Selemenev also works with ceramics. He finds deep inspiration in the works of Vermeer and Hieronymus Bosch. “I care about personal connection, but only the one where each of us pays attention to each other. We are too atomised. The colours, the light can help to alleviate the human condition”.

Artwork Mariana Horgan - Subjektiv.art

In her studio practice the artist mixes painting, drawing, sculpting, collage and raw forms of etching such as monoprinting and woodcut. Always finding beauty in the unconventional and with a keen interest on recycling waste, don´t be surprised to find her digging in garbage at construction sites or "treasure hunting" at the beach for objects and materials that catch her eye and meet some of her ideas.She's most inspired by everyday life, people and nature, with maybe the sea in the spotlight; but her previous experiences in live, childhood memories, loss and a consequent "joie de vivre" that coexists with a certain melancholy also tend to appear on many of her work. Constantly playing with colour and texture in this hide and seek game, her pieces often reveal a sense of calmness, peace and light when finished, although many times there are emotional storms and chaos in the under layers. Her work comes many times as calming and enlightening to her collectors.

Photographer with a PhD in anthropology, I have been producing photographic and textual essays on issues such as territory, colonialism and post-colonialism, disability, new masculinities and sustainability. Considered by GUP Magazine as one of the 100 European photography talents (2020). My work, described as magic documentalism, has already been exhibited in Brazil, France, Italy and Portugal. I exhibited collectively at the Rencontres d'Arles 2019 & 2023 (promoted by the British Journal of Photography and Der Greif) and at the International Center of Photography, in New York. Winner of the “Cities in the City” initiative at PhotoEspaña and the Porto Photography Biennial '21 and recently guest artist in residence at Encontros da Imagem 2023 edition. Co-creator and co-editor of the online contemporary photography magazine SOPA and editor of the photography platform Lenscratch , based in Los Angeles. Part of my artistic practice is developed around personal work, but also the development of free workshops for the communities I work with, always resulting in fanzines, collective exhibitions or other types of artistic products, as has happened in my work in Campanhã , in Porto, São Tomé and Príncipe or Namibia. I believe that through these joint initiatives and community participation, the visual production and local cultural mapping will be richer the greater their engagement.

Dzvinya Podlyashetska

Born in Lviv, Ukraine, based in Vienna, Dzvinya Podlyashetska is an artist whose work moves between the playful and the profound. Her art is a vibrant mix of comic-like figures, bold colours, and surreal compositions, capturing emotions that are often felt but rarely seen. She transforms the ordinary into something magical - people, animals, and everyday objects take on new meaning in her world, where naivety and sarcasm, love and chaos, laughter and melancholy exist in fragile harmony. Dzvinya’s journey into art began with a deep fascination for illustration and printmaking. She studied graphic design at the Ivan Trush Lviv State College of Decorative and Applied Arts before continuing her fine arts education at the Ukrainian Printmaking Academy. She has shaped a distinctive voice, one that blends storytelling with visual poetry. Her art is a reflection of human relationships, inner dialogues, and the constant push and pull between personal identity and external influences. Mental health is a key theme in her work, expressed through dynamic, exaggerated forms and rich textures that echo the complexities of emotion. Each piece is an invitation to pause, to look deeper, and to rediscover the joy of simplicity that is often lost in the rush of modern life. Exhibited across Europe and the United States, from the National Museum of Ukraine in Kyiv to the Volkskunde Museum in Vienna and the 17 Frost Gallery in New York. When You Don’t Expect at Breach Miami, have cemented her reputation as a rising force in contemporary art. Dzvinya doesn’t just create images, she creates experiences. Her art is a space where emotions take shape, where nostalgia meets the surreal, and where viewers are encouraged to embrace both the beauty and the chaos of existence.

Solomiia Ortynska

Solomiia works with oil and acrylic paints, adding lines with coloured pencils, a combination that showcases her love of lines and strokes. Addressing psychological strife in her work, she strives to find a "place of strength" - where one can gather energy and keep moving. For many this place is their home. As home, as she knows it has been stolen, she has shifted her focus to childhood memories that serve as a shelter for the inner child. She sees memories of childhood as a means to reduce stress and enhance emotional healing.

I'm Bohdana Tkach, an artist, photographer, and graphic designer from Rivne, Ukraine. My creative path is rooted in my studies of environmental design at the Kyiv Academy of Decorative and Applied Arts and free graphics at NAOMA. These experiences shaped my unique visual language, blending traditional techniques with modern artistic practices. My work centers on the exploration of the human body, especially the female form, as a vessel of identity, emotion, and history. Since 2019, I have been drawn to cyanotype, an alternative photographic printing method, which allows me to merge tactile craftsmanship with conceptual depth. I would describe myself as a seeker—a weaver of thoughts, emotions, and images. My mind thrives on the poetry of connection, the quiet questions that linger between moments, and the beauty found in both complexity and simplicity. I am drawn to the interplay of light and shadow, in the world and within myself, always searching for meaning and expression that transcend the immediate. As a thinker, I embrace the fluidity of ideas, letting them evolve and intertwine, guided by curiosity and an enduring sense of wonder. My work is both a reflection and an exploration—a way to navigate the vastness of existence and to leave something of myself in the spaces I touch. I strive to approach life with open eyes, an open heart, and a belief in the power of art to connect, heal, and transform.

Maria R Saunders

Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon, a semester in Accademia di Brera Milan, Master in Fine Arts at the Chelsea College of Art & Design UAL, London. Maria has been working exclusively at her studio for the past ten years, showing her work in London, Lisbon and Oporto in several group and individual exhibitions. It's in the studio that she finds her identity and works to justify her existence. It's also here that she compulsively reads, writes and paints. Her work draws significant inspiration from literature, aiming to reflect on the duality of woman's life - the contrast between the profession and the domestic role as a family caregiver. She explores the contemporary female experience, celebrating the boldness of womanhood. Saunders has received recognition as a Signature Art Prize Finalist at Old Spitafields Market in London and was the finalist for São ou Não at Galeria São Mamede in Lisbon. More recently, she has been expanding her studio work and working as a Montessori Art Guide at Kairos Montessori School, with children between 6 and 12 years old.

Her work is a stage, and every canvas is a scene unfolding. Darina’s journey began in a traditional family, where expectations were clear—but her fascination with the surreal led her beyond the familiar. She started art school at six, mastering techniques that shaped her unique visual language. While studying graphic design in Kyiv, Darina found her true voice in painting — a space where boundaries blurred and deeper narratives emerged. At 19, she moved to Lisbon, an experience that shaped her perspective as an outsider navigating an unfamiliar world. Her art became a reflection of identity, isolation, and the quiet weight of societal expectations. From Schönhausen Palace Museum in Berlin to New York’s 17frost Gallery, her work speaks to a universal struggle — the tension between conformity and self-expression. Whether in the dreamlike haze of New Dream World or the raw intimacy of My First Diary, Darina’s paintings invite viewers to step into a moment of self-reflection, where emotions take form and meaning unfolds. Darina doesn’t just paint figures — she paints questions. Her art asks: Who are we, beyond the expectations placed upon us? What do we reveal, and what do we conceal? Her world is one where the symbolic and the surreal merge, reflecting not just her own journey, but the collective search for meaning in a world full of invisible walls.

Tucked away in his studio, a space bursting with pigments and canvases in mid-creation, Artem Andreichuk welcomes visitors with the same vibrant energy that radiates from his work. The walls pulse with colour: lush, unapologetic, and raw. Here, the naked human form is not just a subject but a manifesto. Stripped of status, regalia, or pretence, his figures exist in perfect equilibrium with nature, unashamed, inviting, free. Artem’ journey as an artist is deeply tied to this pursuit of authenticity. Born in 1983, he has remained in Ukraine, shaping his artistic voice amid the ever-changing landscape of his homeland. His fascination with the human body is more than aesthetic—it’ philosophical. In a world layered with masks, he paints what remains when all is shed. Sensual yet unembellished, his figures embody a radical honesty, one that refuses to be confined. Yet, Andreichuk is not just about the body; he’ about the thrill of expression. On another wall, his minimalist works stand in stark contrast to the sensuality of his figurative pieces - youthful, witty, and exuding a rebellious charm. Layers of electrifying colours seem to wink at the viewer, as if daring them to embrace the absurdity and joy of existence. “ should be fun,” he says with a knowing smile, and his art ensures that it is. Beyond the canvas, Artem's creative spirit has always stretched into multiple realms. Music has been a lifelong companion, and as a former bassist for the indie band Blake Maloka, he has translated rhythm into brushstrokes, movement into stillness. His paintings, much like a well-played bass-line, carry an energy that hums beneath the surface; sometimes wild, sometimes restrained, but always present. To step into Artem Andreichuk’ world is to be reminded of life’ fundamental pleasures: skin meeting sun, laughter ringing through colour, rebellion found in joy. His work doesn’ just ask to be seen, it demands to be felt.
