Mixed Media
As for the term mixed media, it designates an artistic creation encompassing different forms of art, materials, and methods interwoven into a single unit. A sculptor can blend the easel painting, digital drawing or even textiles along with other unique materials like objects or other found items collage into a singular piece. Such an approach creates exquisite and complex works of art that is rich in dimensionality, color, form, and texture.
Mixed media art is most prevalent in the middle part of the century as artists started using different types and forms of materials in their works. Robert Rauschenberg was one of the artists who included paintings of everyday objects into his pieces. Another artist associated with the movement, Louise Nevelson was famous for her skillful double negative sculpturing of wooden and metallic assembled pieces.
Modern artists now further incorporate advanced technology and a fusion approach in creating new pieces of art in which mixed media plays the central role. This makes it possible for artists’ use disguised form of visual art blended together with interrelated issues revealing the possibility of tackling boundaries of artistic and conventional disciplines.
