Formalism
It is an artistic and literary theory which focuses more to the aesthetic features of the work of art candidate for critique rather than paying more attention to its content or its context. Formalists appreciate the visual arts and give much attention to the instrumental elements of a painting, that is, line, colour, shape and the composition of the painting. Also in formalism is a part of view which arose in the early 20th century together with Modernismo, had its peak consulted to the modern period namely the middle of the 1900 century which greatly affected the movements of Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism. Also the movements associated with these styles had other stylists formally began to associate and break out of the rigid frames of realistic imitation and freer creations of absence forms of art. Wassily Kandinsky is best known as the father of Abstract Art because of the idea that emotional impulses could and needed to be expressed by forms and colors as well as by words and Piet Mondrian is also known for his rigid geometric compositions which seek to realize his dream of ultimate universal harmony brought about by orderly arrangement of formalistic elements. After all those artists, their contribution were to break the rigid divisions of abstraction and realism in painting and give way for the postmodern movements were considered the shifts in culture and belief. Formal Stella and Kelly were advanced in his teachings where they begin to transform the art form-polish painting and turn it into sculpture by using formalistic movements. Like any other form of formalism, it aided the viewers or appreciators to view everything as visual because they set aside the simulated emotions that are broadcasted by symbols and whatever actions are done in the artwork. That is to say upon the focus being on the external attributes ommiting the perspectives or the tell narrations. As an alternative approach to art interpretation, formalism redefine the bounds of art to help the audience discover the intrinsic factors found in artworks.
