Olena Yemelianova
Artist from Ukraine
Olena Yemelianova ukrainian artist whose practice includes watercolor, acrylic, collage and photography. In her artistic research, she explores how people come to understand themselves through the expression of emotions and feelings, living through significant or everyday events in their lives. Considering the environment as a trigger for the process of self-discovery, she draws attention to the connection between life, historical and emotional processes that inspire the urban theme, as the development of a symbiotic structure, time and easy living. She exhibited both at personal exhibitions in Kharkov (Ukraine) and at group exhibitions (such as: β€œInvisible Gardens”, National Museum of Taras Shevchenko, Kyiv; β€œIneradicable places of Ukraine”, Directorate of Exhibitions of the National Assembly of Artists of Ukraine, Central House of the Artist, Kyiv; β€œUnited by watercolor”, Odessa Museum of Western and Eastern Art, Odessa). She is most inspired by architecture and elements of the urban landscape.Оlena's paintings offer reflections on the fact that we build our lives as architects of our destiny, and that we are constantly transforming and expanding, just like the architectural forms that surround us.

Shadow of safety
Painting by Olena Yemelianova
36 x 54 cm β€’ Paper, Watercolour
One of a kind
How it arrives:
Location:
Kharkiv, Ukraine
A person seeks to find a safe place when reality becomes unbearable. As in childhood, we want to hide in a house if it's scary. The old arch here symbolizes the traditional idea of a shelter, a space that should provide protection. But the knees hiding under it hint at anxiety, shame and fear, which lead to self-isolation. Even the family home can become a place of contempt, humiliation or violence. The illusion of security can turn into a trap where physical shelter does not meet internal needs. Is it possible to find a real refuge in a world where everyone seeks to hide from their inner demons, or is it just a denial of reality that does not allow to get out of the shadow of fears? My work here is the only copy of my unique and original handiwork. Household images are computer generated and may not be to scale and are for illustrative purposes only. Make an offer for this job! If you have any further questions about this piece or would like to see more photos, please feel free to ask.
