Olena Yemelianova
Artist from Ukraine
Olena Yemelianova ukrainian artist whose practice includes watercolor, acrylic, collage and photography. In her artistic research, she explores how people come to understand themselves through the expression of emotions and feelings, living through significant or everyday events in their lives. Considering the environment as a trigger for the process of self-discovery, she draws attention to the connection between life, historical and emotional processes that inspire the urban theme, as the development of a symbiotic structure, time and easy living. She exhibited both at personal exhibitions in Kharkov (Ukraine) and at group exhibitions (such as: β€œInvisible Gardens”, National Museum of Taras Shevchenko, Kyiv; β€œIneradicable places of Ukraine”, Directorate of Exhibitions of the National Assembly of Artists of Ukraine, Central House of the Artist, Kyiv; β€œUnited by watercolor”, Odessa Museum of Western and Eastern Art, Odessa). She is most inspired by architecture and elements of the urban landscape.Оlena's paintings offer reflections on the fact that we build our lives as architects of our destiny, and that we are constantly transforming and expanding, just like the architectural forms that surround us.

Painting by Olena Yemelianova
36.5 x 54.5 cm β€’ Paper, Watercolour
One of a kind
How it arrives:
Location:
Kharkiv, Ukraine
The painting plays with the concept of perception and its limits. Through the open window of a cozy cafe, we see a scene that seems calm and sunny: a classic building with a flag symbolizing pride and resilience, soft light filling the space. But this window is only a portal to the world of illusions. On the surface everything looks perfect, but in reality we only see what we are allowed to see. The table in the foreground with glasses accidentally left on it symbolizes the choice: how do we look at the world - through the prism of superficial perception or are we trying to see deeper? The blue color of the window frame and flowers evokes associations with mystery, hidden emotions and internal processes that remain behind the scenes, beyond our immediate perception. In this painting, I invite you to think about how often we perceive the world only through the outer layer, without seeing the hidden complexities and internal struggles. Behind the bright light there may be a shadow that is not obvious at first glance. My work here is the only copy of my unique and original handiwork. Household images are computer generated and may not be to scale and are for illustrative purposes only. Make an offer for this job! If you have any further questions about this piece or would like to see more photos, please feel free to ask.
