Olena Yemelianova
Artist from Ukraine
Olena Yemelianova ukrainian artist whose practice includes watercolor, acrylic, collage and photography. In her artistic research, she explores how people come to understand themselves through the expression of emotions and feelings, living through significant or everyday events in their lives. Considering the environment as a trigger for the process of self-discovery, she draws attention to the connection between life, historical and emotional processes that inspire the urban theme, as the development of a symbiotic structure, time and easy living. She exhibited both at personal exhibitions in Kharkov (Ukraine) and at group exhibitions (such as: βInvisible Gardensβ, National Museum of Taras Shevchenko, Kyiv;
βIneradicable places of Ukraineβ, Directorate of Exhibitions of the National Assembly of Artists of Ukraine, Central House of the Artist, Kyiv; βUnited by watercolorβ, Odessa Museum of Western and Eastern Art, Odessa). She is most inspired by architecture and elements of the urban landscape.Πlena's paintings offer reflections on the fact that we build our lives as architects of our destiny, and that we are constantly transforming and expanding, just like the architectural forms that surround us.

House with columns
Painting by Olena Yemelianova
36.5 x 54.5 cm β’ Paper, Watercolour
One of a kind
This house became an example for me that sometimes plants are wiser than people.
Time and human negligence have led to the fact that this incredibly beautiful historical building in the very center of the Ukrainian city is in such a state of disrepair.
This building is about 200 years old, it has seen many different events. Majestic, beautiful, powerful. And now it is quietly falling apart. And only the plants try to give it life, decorating it with their green leaves and singing birds among them.
My work here is the only copy of my unique and original handiwork.
