Frida
Painting by Lana Korolievskaia
60 x 60 cm • Cardboard, Oil
Location:
Dnipro, Ukraine
If Frida Kahlo did not exist in the history of art, then it would have to be invented: the influence of this artist on world culture is almost impossible to overestimate. The female artist from South America has become not only a feminist legend, but also an important political figure on a planetary scale. Frida is not just an artist. This is a cultural phenomenon.
The brilliant Mexican artist Frida Kahlo was often called the female alter-ego of Salvador Dali. The basis of her work is not ephemeral allusions and a paradoxical combination of forms, but the pain of loss, disappointment and betrayal passed through the prism of personal worldview.
