Yuliia was born in 2002 in Volnovaha, eastern Ukraine. She now lives in Kyiv. She studied at the M.Boychuk State Academy of Fine Arts and Design and NAFAA.
Yuliia works in the direction of modern conceptual art, creating a synthesis between abstract and surrealist art. By her own account, she aims to purify creativity from unnecessary signs and images, so that it can become a mirror for the viewer's inner world.
Her works have a philosophical and esoteric subtext, but are based solely on the game of subjectivity.
“I was born in a city that was occupied by Russia on March 5, 2022, I experienced many tests that significantly influenced my art. My works are an attempt to explore complex emotions: loss, fighting trauma and searching for lost harmony. The surreal world is my shelter. A journey between consciousness and the subconscious. A world of passion, illusions, dreams and secrets. Wild imagination finds peace on canvas and paints, carving out the eternal conflict of light and dark”.

yield, n.: the point at which a material stops deforming elastically and begins to deform permanently.
yield, v.: to give way under force; to surrender, concede, or submit.
lately, i have been working with two extreme modes of the psyche: participating in one’s own experience and observing it.
in my previous cycle, the metaposition was central. i explored distance through the image of a future archaeology, where experience already exists as a trace and as material for observation. in the right pressure, i shift the focus towards returning to the body.
for me, bdsm practices became one way of approaching this return. the voluntary transfer of part of one’s agency creates a situation in which force exists within clearly defined boundaries. the other person retains their own will and defines the limit of what is permissible. this allows objectification to remain controlled and embedded within reciprocity.
i am interested in what happens to this logic when bdsm enters the field of fetish aesthetics, pornography, and mass culture. its visual language is easily retained. reciprocity is not necessarily retained with it.
at this point, an asymmetry emerges. one person preserves the right to act, while the other is reduced to an object of their will and to the consequences of their decisions. this structure opens onto broader social questions. i am interested in human interchangeability, as well as in the asymmetry of responsibility and consequences, where one person’s sense of entitlement ends with someone else paying the price.
