Gustavo Sanches de Castro (Espinho, 1986) breaks away from the rigor of drafting
to explore the catharsis of abstract expressionism. Since 2018, he has used purely
tactile painting as a tool for liberation, merging body and canvas in a tense balance
between chaos and tranquility. Influenced by the precision of architecture and
engineering, his aesthetic research progressively expands into three-dimensional
space, giving physical substance and volume to the visceral gesture.
With international exposure, key highlights include exhibitions at the Casa Portinari

“Neurodiversity” is na invitation by Gustavo Sanches de Castro into a deep
immersion within the invisible architecture of thought. The artwork functions as na
abstract cartography of a brain that processes reality distinctively, celebrating the
complexity and intensity of neurodivergent minds.
The technique employed is a visceral surrender: paint is applied and worked
exclusively with the hands, eliminating any barrier between the artist’s body and
the canvas. Against a dense teal background, filaments and explosions in white,
yellow, and blue emerge, mimicking both the vastness of space and the electricity
of neuronal synapses.
These visual elements suggest a flow of ideas that does not follow linear paths,
revealing the beauty of na “organized chaos.” The duality of orientation—vertical or
horizontal—mirrors the flexibility required to navigate a world that does not always
comprehend these internal dynamics. “Neurodiversity” is, above all, the plastic
translation of a mind that finds its purest language in art, transforming the weight
of difference into the light of understanding.
