Sleppy Catch
Painting by Stefan Stoikov
130 x 165 cm • , Oil, Oil paint, Oill, Oil paints, Oil color
The painting was inspired by a documentary film about David Lynch. In it, he talked about his personal experience of “catching” ideas from the outside, drawing an analogy that, for an artist, this process is similar to a fisherman catching fish. These transcendental reflections led me to the realization that any ideas about peaceful conflict resolution, where both sides are “happy,” are beautiful in essence but dead, just like these mermaids.
