Liubov Kuptsova
Artist from Ukraine
« In each of my artworks, I place a part of my soul. I create all my pieces with great love since the realization of my childhood dream. » Liubov Kuptsova is a contemporary Ukrainian artist who works primarily with oil paints, using a palette knife as her main tool. This technique allows her to create rich textures, depth, and energetic strokes, giving her artworks a distinctive sense of movement and emotion. Her painting style fuses expressive techniques with vivid colors and multilayered surfaces. Standing at the crossroads of realism and abstraction, her works feature recognizable subjects while also inviting viewers to interpret deeper meanings through the interplay of form and color. Recurring themes in her art include animals, birds, flowers, and human figures — all brought to life through bold gestures and a vibrant palette. Liubov Kuptsova’s works are held in private collections around the globe. Constantly evolving, she experiments with new approaches, pushing the limits of her artistic language through color, texture, and form.

Don’t Call Me Grey
Painting by Liubov Kuptsova
40 x 40 cm • Oil on canvas
Location:
Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine
In this painting, I wanted to challenge the idea of being labeled or reduced to a single tone. Although the elephant is often seen as grey and heavy, I painted it overflowing with color, emotion, and inner movement. For me, this work is about sensitivity hidden behind strength. About carrying a lot inside, feeling deeply, and still standing with dignity. The splashes of color represent thoughts, moods, memories, and emotions that cannot be contained or silenced. This elephant is powerful, vulnerable, and alive — and it refuses to be defined by one color only.
