Against the backdrop of war, I began analyzing every period of my life. When I recalled my teenage years, I realized that I had very few memories of home (in Donetsk Oblast). In 2014, I was 16 years old, and from that moment on, home ceased to be a place of comfort. My positive memories remained only in childhood, and I depicted it accordingly. In the painting, I portray myself as an adult, longing for home. I would have liked to paint my apartment building, but it is now occupied by invaders. I would have liked to depict my favorite streets, but there’s also occupants. So instead, I painted nature — the memories untouched by russian soldiers.
