A painting about a space perceived not as a specific place, but as an inner territory of memory and presence. At the center of the composition is a dark, almost silent space, enclosed by an intense red form resembling a portal, an arch, or a sacred sign.
Here, red becomes the main emotional accent — speaking of strength, life, memory, and the sacred. Through the central opening, a distant fragment of landscape appears, as if revealing another dimension of space.
The textured surface, layers of paint, and visible traces of movement create a sense of time accumulated on the canvas. “Sanctuary” is not a depiction of a particular sacred place, but an image of a place that a person carries within themselves.
