IHOR MELNYK
Ihor Melnyk is a Ukrainian artist working in the field of contemporary painting and abstract landscape. He was born in 1985 in Stryi, Lviv Region, Ukraine, where he currently lives and works.
In his artistic practice, Melnyk explores nature, space, memory, and the inner states of human experience. His paintings are not literal representations of reality, but rather emotional and visual reinterpretations of it. Through colour, texture, rhythm, and composition, the artist develops a distinctive visual language in which the landscape is transformed into an abstract image.
In 2004, he graduated from the Stryi Art College, and in 2010, from the Lviv National Academy of Arts.
Since 2006, Ihor Melnyk has been a member of the artistic association “Stryi-KO”, and since 2013, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
In 2020, he was awarded the Petro Obal Painting Prize.
Melnyk’s works are included in the collections of the Cherkasy Museum of Contemporary Ukrainian Art and the Mykola Babak Foundation. His works are also represented by Goldens Auction House in Kyiv.
The artist’s paintings are held in private collections in the United States, Greece, Germany, France, Japan, and Ukraine.

This abstract landscape transforms the image of a flowering form into a vibrant, emotionally charged composition. Dense layers of turquoise, deep red, ochre, yellow, blue, and earthy brown create a sense of movement and tension, while expressive impasto brushwork gives the surface a strong tactile presence.
The recognizable suggestion of a flower and vase gradually dissolves into fragments of color, gesture, and texture. Rather than depicting a literal landscape, the work constructs an inner space—one shaped by memory, sensation, and the rhythm of nature.
The contrast between saturated colors and darker earthy passages creates a dynamic balance between vitality and silence. The painting invites the viewer to look beyond the depicted form and experience the landscape as an emotional and sensory field.
