The Sheep
Engraving by Jacques Hnizdovsky
66 x 98 cm • Art paper, Glass, Woodframe
Limited Edition of 200
This specific poster was created for Hnizdovsky's exhibition at the Lumley Cazalet Gallery in London, which ran from June 19 to July 26. "The Sheep" is considered his most successful print. It won first prize at the Boston Printmakers annual exhibition in 1962 and was famously collected by figures such as Truman Capote. The symbolism of a purple sheep combines the traditional meanings of sheep—such as innocence, community, and conformity—with the royal and spiritual attributes of the color purple. Unlike the "black sheep," which often represents being an outcast or a disappointment, a purple sheep is a symbol of positive distinction

For me, Subjektiv is an opportunity to be together with those who are able to see and feel the beauty, who are able to make their own free judgment about everything that touches their lives. We in Subjective unite such people, do what we believe in together, influencing each other and this world. Because it clearly lacks humanity and aesthetics both outside and inside. I hope with our help there will be more beauty in the world. This is what inspires me.
