I bought this guitar back in 1996. Before choosing it, I tried many other semi-hollow instruments (Gibson, Gretsch, Epiphone) and even compared it to classic Telecasters. The guitar has a confident, thick sound typical of humbuckers, with great string tension (even when compared to the same gauge on other guitars). The instrument responds well to active, even 'aggressive' picking and has moderate sustain. It’s a 'lively' and 'vibrant' guitar that works perfectly for jazz, blues, or rockabilly. Over the nearly 30 years I’ve owned it, I’ve played countless gigs and recorded several albums with it.It opens up beautifully both on a clean setting and with a light overdrive. I especially love how it sounds with flatwound 11-52 strings—bright and springy. It’s a fantastic guitar for a passionate soul! :)
