Anthropocene
Painting by Anton Mykhalchuk
100 x 80 cm • Acrilic
Anthropocene is a modular painting where the seasons function as a model of natural order, disrupted by a central horizontal band that embodies human impact as an environment. Through haze and soot, industrial silhouettes, waste, a nuclear mushroom cloud, and a wounded Scimitar-horned Oryx emerge as traces of technogenic violence. Smoke rises into spring and summer, sediment falls onto winter, and blood spills into autumn—breaking cyclicality and framing catastrophe as a lasting condition rather than a singular event.
