Sea 3
Drawing by Anna Prydatko
50 x 40 cm • Charcoal, Graphics
Sea 3 - the 3rd charcoal drawing from the serias "My sea is Black". I was born in Crimea (Ukraine), 500 meters from the shoreline, where the sea’s presence hits with the full force of its beauty—leaving an imprint on eyes for a lifetime. The landscapes in the series My Black Sea are devoid of specific markers of place. They function as spaces of memory: when you look at the sea, a specific shore always remains behind you, but in consciousness it dissolves and mixes with imaginary shores and fragments of memories. Through this series, I revisit the place that formed me, not geographically but emotionally, allowing the sea to surface again in lines, shadows, and movement. Each drawing is created with charcoal on paper, a process that becomes a meditative act—allowing the movement of hand and the subtle textures of the medium to mirror the ebb and flow of memory and emotion.
