“Your Bird”
Mixed media by Julia Datchenko
70 x 100 cm • Art paper, Pencil, Soft pastel, Toned paper, Paper and pencils
Location:
Opole, Poland
This diptych is visual poetry about love, spiritual kinship, and harmony between two souls. Two women mirror each other, each with her own bird. The woman with her eyes closed symbolizes inner peace, listening with the heart, a state of silence when a person hears not the outside world, but their own soul. The bird near her face is a symbol of the soul, inspiration, words, and love that comes through closeness to nature and one's own heart. In “My Bird,” it is a personal, inner feeling, while in “Your Bird,” it is giving, sharing inspiration with another. The ribbons from the wreaths flying in different directions signify the movement of energy, the breath of freedom, the sharing of emotions between two souls. The wreath is a symbol of connection with nature, life, and family. Red represents warmth, love, the heart, action, and life. Dark blue represents silence, depth, spirituality, and nocturnal wisdom. Together, they create a balance between passion and calm, light and shadow.
