Painting by Lana Korolievskaia
59.7 x 50.5 cm • Oil on canvas
The image of flight and endless spaces, not limited by a closed area, are close and dear to me.I constantly turn to them, slightly modifying, veiling or revealing them a little more. In this painting, I was able to unite them together both symbolically and pictorially. Birds are free creatures. Flight is their natural state. Without open space they wither. Spaces are lifeless if there is no one in them. Emptiness must be filled, and the impulse must have expanse to spread. But this work is a little different. Its title expresses the essence of the message in the context of the realities of modern life. The vast steppe expanses require close attention, since there are many who want to appropriate them for themselves in the era of the new Middle Ages. The coat of arms of the country in which I live depicts a diving falcon. In my painting, it watches over the safety that has been ensured, at least for a time. My painting is about the vigilance necessary in any big or small matter.
