Sebastião Cavaco

Sebastião Cavaco is a painter born in 1993 in the city of Lisbon, where he currently lives and has his atelier. Although a born-and-bred Lisbon native, he experiences an uneasy tension in relation to his birthplace, having grown up between Beira-Baixa and the Algarve. This duality has led to an expressive need for teluro-pelagic experiences, which visibly influences many of his artworks. His inclination towards drawing emerged at an early age, along with an awareness of a life that would unfold from this discipline. Alongside other activities that revolve around his primary practice — that of being a painter — he has been exhibiting regularly since 2016, having participated in and organised exhibitions in Portugal and Spain, in cities such as Lisbon, Faro, and Barcelona. His main focus has been on painting, but his artistic expression also encompasses drawing, 3D modelling and digital painting, installation, photography, poetry, and music, often seeking intersections between techniques or forms of expression.
