Amgad Eltohamy
Amgad Tohamy Egyptian sculptor, born in Cairo in 1968. Graduated from the Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University in 1992. Obtained a Ph. He participated in the artistic movement since his graduation. He presented five solo exhibitions, trying to search for a special form that expresses his artistic vision in the field of sculpture. His expressive works focus on man, his dreams, his ideas about self and existence, the struggle between reason and emotion, and questions about what life means. He sees that the space surrounding the statue represents life and the proportions of the interaction of the statue's mass with the surrounding space reflects a specific state of expression. The closed blocks isolated from the void direct the mass to negative expressions such as sadness and isolation, but when the mass interacts with the void, it expresses positive states such as happiness. And he is still looking through his experiences in the field of stereoscopic expression for the visual and symbolic equivalent between the axes of realistic, imaginary and abstract art trends, trying to merge them into blocks characterized by simplification of the external form, which may contribute to conveying the expressive state in a deeper way, in contrast to the excessive details on the surface. A statue that may caress the eye superficially without going deep into the state of expression. One of his interests when dealing with the symbolism of the shape of the human body or parts of the body is to present it with special visual solutions that are contemporary and combine imagination and abstraction.
