Lada Donchenko (1991) Lada Donchenko is a Ukrainian ceramic artist born in Chernihiv in 1991. She lives and works in Kyiv. In her practice, Donchenko explores slow processes of transformation and entropy, finding beauty in phenomena that are not commonly perceived as attractive, such as mold, erosion, and other traces of decay. Her work approaches change as a process of continuous becoming rather than loss. Originally trained as a classical musician, she holds an MA in Cello Performance. This background developed her sensitivity to rhythm, tempo, and emotional nuance, qualities that continue to inform her artistic language in ceramics. A self-taught ceramic artist, she has built her technical knowledge through independent research into materials and the development of her own glaze formulations. Donchenko seeks to create objects that feel discovered rather than made. Existing beyond utilitarian function, her works assert an autonomous presence in space. Through their physical structure, these objects also suggest psychological depth and processes of inner transformation. Her projects unfold through thematic series, including “Secret Desires”, “Between the Lines”, “Creatures of Entropy”, and “Tender Bodies”. Donchenko has presented her work at Maison & Objet, Révélations, Milan Design Week, and Paris Design Week. Her works have been selected by the auction house Piasa and are held in private collections throughout Europe and North America.
