Banyi Szilard Constantin
Artist from Germany
My name is Szilard Constantin Banyi, and I am a contemporary visual artist whose work explores the liminal space between reality and the subconscious. My artistic journey was formally shaped at the Art School in Satu Mare, Romania, where I studied from 2000 to 2015, building a rigorous traditional foundation that now informs my atmospheric and psychological compositions.
Over the years, my work has been featured in multiple local exhibitions, and a significant milestone in my career came in 2018, when one of my paintings was gifted to Prince Charles.
In 2021, I relocated to Germany, where I continue my creative practice, developing ongoing bodies of work such as my "Dreams Series." My current works are represented by and available at Galerie Venschott in Emsdetten.
My paintings—often crafted in traditional egg oil tempera on canvas—bridge the gap between dark fables, melancholic landscapes, and surrealist narratives.

Description:
Vulpine Abyss
Egg oil tempera on canvas
A solitary fox emerges from the dense, shadowed undergrowth, suspended between presence and disappearance. Vulpine Abyss explores the tension between the animal’s alert, almost confrontational gaze and the surrounding forest, where forms dissolve into layers of darkness, muted greens, and fragmented light.
The fox becomes both a physical presence and a psychological figure—a moment of awareness within an environment that remains elusive and unstable. The loosely articulated vegetation, reflective passages, and controlled drips create a sense of depth without fully describing the space, allowing the forest to exist somewhere between landscape and abstraction.
Painted in egg oil tempera, the work combines the luminous, layered quality of the medium with a deliberately gestural treatment of the surrounding landscape. The contrast between the fox’s warm ochres and the cool, dark atmosphere gives the central figure a quiet intensity, while the title suggests an encounter with something deeper and less tangible than the depicted animal itself.
