"Support" is a work in the style of dark surrealism that takes a stark, incisive look at empathy and personal boundaries. It captures that all-too-familiar moment when someone tells you, "No problem, I’m here for you," only for you to realize a minute later that they’ve comfortably climbed onto your back and are exhaustingly trampling all over your wings. A classic scenario. Executed on heavy paper, the piece combines deep monochrome drawing with hand-stitched red thread. The red linear stitches physically delineate the absurd tension of toxic empathy, adding a tactile—almost nervous—dimension to the composition, making it ideal for modern lofts, dark minimalist spaces, or private collections.
