Living in the wild heart of the Blue Mountains,Australia, I am surrounded by dense Bushland and at the mercy of the elements. The atmosphere is one of sublime indifference to the concerns of everyday life. In this place Nature dominates and her seasons and moods demand attention and respect. As an artist, I let this ancient spirit of nature wash over me and inform my image making. It allows me to escape into a place where the act of painting leaves the dull realities of life behind. The paintings are a mindscape of Gothic wild nature, conjured from a sense of otherworldliness and populated by my own half remembered Western world mythologies, cultural tropes, arcane symbolism, and dreamlike visions.
