One of a kind
In "Amorphophallus Titanum", I explore primal sensuality and physical form through the striking contrast of the "Corpse Flower." Its literal translation—the phallus—presents a raw, earth-born eroticism that shatters traditional flower painting. This is nature as a dominant, breathing entity, balancing a monument of vital, sexual force with the heavy context of its brief bloom and smell of decay. It is a dual celebration of life's peak and immediate transience.
My studio process was fueled by a complex musical duality. The hypnotic, improvisational jazz of Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Bill Evans provided a sensual, physical rhythm, while the vibrant layers of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and the cold, experimental tension of Bowie and Eno’s Berlin Trilogy shaped the atmosphere. Rendered with urgent, fluid acrylic strokes, this giant totem vibrates against an electric blue space—a tense, poetic statement on flesh, mortality, and electric harmony.
