Margarita Yakymenko
Artist from Ukraine
I am an artist from Kyiv. I graduated from the Boychuk Academy in Kyiv, where I am a lecturer now.
І work mostly with graphics.
In my artworks, I explore the parallels between the shifts in a person’s spiritual state and course of processes in the environment. I work with themes of repentance, human sin and virtue, truth-seeking and substitution of values.

Plants and weed
Drawing by Margarita Yakymenko
56 x 76 cm • Ink, Paper, Watercolor, Pencil
One of a kind
Paper, ink, watercolor, pencil
My last graphic series features symbols from plant life, which are cultivated by the gardener. Without attention the plants are left alone with weeds, and eventually diseases appear, damaging the foliage. Thus, even to maintain the state of things at the same level, constant effort is required. Idleness in turn leads to degradation.
