Wake Up
Painting by Pablo Ruiz
40 x 30 cm β’ Oil, Oil paint, Oil color
One of a kind
This work uses market inertia as a metaphor for social conformity. While the mass of fish lies "frozen" and devoid of identity, the central fish breaks the paralysis with a defiant gaze toward the viewer. Its slightly open mouth is not a death mask, but a whisper of "awake", a call to individual conscience against collective apathy. The "θ΅·" (to rise) characters reinforce this message of resistance. In this contrast, the piece reminds us that even in the most oppressive environments, the awakening of the will is the first step toward freedom.
