“Different” is a signature sculptural work by Ukrainian metal artist Savuliak Vita, created as part of her master’s-level research into human emotional reactions and the nature of individuality.
The artwork is built around a central philosophical idea: every person experiences the world differently, and our reactions—joy, sorrow, anger, and calmness—shape the unique emotional language of who we are.
The composition consists of four expressive masks, each representing a distinct emotional state. Every mask is crafted from a different metal, emphasizing its character: copper, stainless steel, iron, and patinated surfaces.
Their colors, forms, and textures reflect the emotional symbolism of warm joy, cold sorrow, fiery rage, and balanced calmness.
Behind the masks stretches a dynamic arrangement of forged metal lines representing the ever-changing world—external forces that shape, influence, and intersect with our inner selves.
Each mask interacts with this background differently, symbolizing the varied sensitivity and strength of human reactions.
The artwork masterfully combines classical metalworking craftsmanship with a contemporary conceptual approach. It showcases a wide range of professional techniques: hand forging, laser cutting, riveting, welding, wire-stitching, patination, artificial aging, polishing, and multi-metal construction.
Over six years of academic study culminated in this complex, emotionally charged sculptural piece.
“Different” embodies both the theoretical depth of the artist’s research and the practical mastery of traditional and modern metal art.
