100 x 70 cm • Papier, Love, Ukraine, Toned paper
Location:
Dnipro, Ukraine
A papercut depicting a female image of a water goddess among fish. A symbol of harmony, abundance, and the vitality of the water element. The embodiment of the unity of man and nature, peace, and the movement of life. The female figure is the embodiment of the water goddess, the spirit that controls the rhythms of water, life in it, and the element itself. In Slavic beliefs, such images personified the motherhood of nature, its ability to give birth, purify, and accept. The fish around are a symbol of abundance, rebirth, and the flow of life. Their number and ornamental richness emphasize the wealth of the underwater world. The smooth lines and soft symmetry emphasize the idea of calm and inner harmony that reigns in the depths of the water. This is a hymn to the water element, which is both gentle and omnipotent. The water woman carries peace within her, but also reminds us of the power of nature that nourishes all living things. She is the foremother of fish and currents, the spirit that keeps the water world in balance.
