Trypillya Goat
Painting by Anna Potomkina
40 x 50 cm • Charcoal, Acrylic
Location:
Irpin, Ukraine
This painting is inspired by the Trypillian culture, one of the oldest civilizations that existed on the territory of modern Ukraine over 5,000 years ago. The Trypillians left behind a unique heritage, particularly pottery with symbolic imagery reflecting their worldview and connection to nature.
The Trypillian Goat in this work is an attempt to reinterpret and reimagine ancient motifs through a modern lens. Using acrylic and charcoal, I aimed to convey the simplicity, symbolism, and harmony with nature that were key elements of this culture. This piece is my tribute to the rich history of our land.
