Sunflowers

This artwork has a symbolic meaning. The sunflower is a significant image in the culture of my people. For many viewers, the painting evokes sadness, but also hope, because the plant has to die to bring forth the seeds of the harvest. It looks like a sacrifice. “Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain, but if it dies it bears much fruit”.(John 12:24)
