Olia Shkil is a personal stylist and fashion influencer. She runs her “Looks of the Week” series, sharing weekly roundups of her everyday outfits, and for nearly four years, she hasn’t repeated a single look! Olia approaches material possessions as a tool for self-expression, using style to highlight individuality and character. Here's what she says about this selection: "I have a particular love for rich, saturated colours and for the way artists see and bring them together. It often makes me want to experiment with colour in my own style. Paintings have inspired many of my favourite colour combinations, and sometimes given me the confidence to bring together shades that I might not have considered compatible at first. I also love looking at paintings from very close up, exploring the brushstrokes, the way colours flow into one another, and the texture of the paint. There’s something deeply satisfying about it. Then I step back and take the painting in as a whole, and for a moment I almost stop breathing, realising that all those individual strokes and subtle transitions have come together to create a recognisable image — or to express something the artist saw, felt or was thinking about. I chose these artworks because they stayed with me the longest and because spending time with them brought a sense of calm and lightness to my mind. They are pieces I would want to return to, both for contemplation and for inspiration in my work as a personal stylist. And, perhaps most importantly, they are paintings I would genuinely love to have around me every day.
