Olena Ryzhykh
In a world that rarely stands still, Olena Ryzhykh creates art that moves - sometimes literally. Known for her mastery of both abstract and figurative painting, as well as her innovative kinetic art objects, Ryzhykh’s work is an exploration of contrasts: movement and stillness, precision and spontaneity, structure and chaos. Born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine, her artistic path was shaped by rigorous training at the Republic Art School and the Ukrainian State Institute of Art, followed by time at the Art Academy of Georgia. This diverse education instilled in her a deep understanding of technique, but her restless curiosity pushed her beyond tradition. Rather than settling into a single style, she continuously reinvents her visual language, layering textures, colours, and compositions to create paintings that feel alive. Her brushstrokes shift from the bold, sculptural forms of Medieval Square to the fluid, expressive gestures of Mediterranean Date, showcasing a versatility that defies categorization. Meanwhile, her kinetic artworks introduce a physical dimension of movement, inviting viewers to engage with art beyond the static canvas. Recognized with 12 awards for painting and an International Gold Medal for kinetic art, Ryzhykh’s work has been collected by museums in Ukraine, Georgia, and the USA, as well as private collectors across 15 countries. Her 19 solo exhibitions in France, Malta, and Ukraine, alongside her participation in major European and US art festivals, have solidified her place as a vital voice in contemporary Ukrainian art. For Ryzhykh, art is not merely something to observe—it is something to experience. Whether through dynamic textures, layered symbolism, or the physical movement of her kinetic pieces, she challenges the boundary between the tangible and the intangible. Her works do not simply depict—they reflect the constant interplay of forces that shape our world, urging us to pause, engage, and see beyond the surface.
