Marie Ghislaine BEAUCE
Marie-Ghislaine Beaucé, a French artist currently active in London, has been interested in textile fibers since her teenage years. At the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Nantes and during the years she spent working in soft furnishing design and manufacture, she understood the artistic potential of textile fibres, the absolute protagonists of her artworks. In the pieces made since 2015, the textile fibres of varied textures, colours and materials, intertwine and overlap each other, creating an abstract and purely geometric lattice. By combining different textiles and playing on contrasts, Marie-Ghislaine highlights and enhances the peculiarities of each material, passing from the sheen of silk and velvet to the opacity of natural cotton or linen. The two dimensionality of fabrics often joins the three dimensionality of padded tubes, making her artworks a hybrid between patchwork and plasticism. Since 2022, Marie-Ghislaine has participated in numerous international exhibitions and in 2024, she has received several international awards for her innovative creations.
