Yehor Dulin

Yehor Dulin is a contemporary artist from Lysychansk (Eastern Ukraine). He is known for his bright colour palette and canvases which brim with light. Taking inspiration from the Spanish early Impressionist artist Joaquín Sorolla, Yehor plays with contrast, exposing light and shadows.

Often working en plein air, Yehor’s paintings instil the feeling of breathing freely and almost soaring above the ground. They also reflect his character: open, light, humble. He loves to travel and have encounters and conversations with people along the way. He has been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 2013. He received his education at the Kharkiv Academy of Art. Yehor has had more than 30 solo exhibitions in Ukraine and Europe.

Why do you think people need to buy art?

I see several reasons. Firstly, each unique material artwork is alive. It carries the joy of the soul, emotion, unlike artificial, mass-produced pieces. You can truly feel its presence in your home. Secondly, it can be a beautiful and very personal present, or it can be passed down as an inheritance. And, of course, over time it can become a good investment (Van Gogh's contemporaries could never have imagined that over time his paintings would be worth millions!). I think every collector knows this joy from having acquired something real and unique.

What do you fear?

I'm afraid I'll run out of time to complete everything I've planned.

Where do you get the courage to do what you want?

I realise that no one else sees the world exactly the way I do. I strive to experiment and explore greatly, to be free. I paint what I want; it's like music to me.
