Kateryna and "Yellow Food" painting by Artem Andreichuk

I fell in love with this painting the moment I saw it. When I shared the image with a friend, he told me that the colours of it and these two aloe plants reflect precisely who I am, my personality and character.

It was a bit expensive as the artist turned out to be well established and from a family of painters, so I didn't dare to buy it immediately. But a couple of months after I had this moment when one feels acutely the passage of time and it is “now or never, because if you don't spend the money why do you earn them?”. That type of moment. So I clicked “Buy” and chose self-pick up.

I couldn't wait to collect it. Bringing it home felt so unusual. I felt it should belong to a museum, not to my home. When I finally dared to hang it - it created so much warmth, playfulness. I don't think any stylish design or any fashion item could better convey my personality. It totally transformed the room, adding a sense of ultimate originality and freedom. In hindsight this was the cheapest way to give my rented apartment so much character and sense of home!

With time, I realised I want it to hang in my bedroom, so that every morning, I look at it, converse and set myself up for the new day. With different light, mood, and constant discoveries of new colours and levels in it it reminds me each morning that life is full of good surprises, so it is worth getting up to go meet them.
