Sofia and "Mimosa" painting by Julia Chemerys
Sofia and "Mimosa" painting by Julia Chemerys

When I first moved into my flat, I deliberately left the walls bare. Blankness felt calming, like a deep breath at the beginning of something, the one you can build on top of. Over time, the walls began to fill — each piece carrying a memory, finding a new home with me.  The framing became part of the ritual - helped become part of the piece.

And then, there was the new painting. I first saw it online. There was something in its brightness, the way it held so much color and light, as if from within. It was just so alive and radiant. Weeks later, my close friends surprised me with it. It was even better ‘in person’.

I didn’t even think about a frame — I simply placed it, right there in the center of the wall, where it belonged. Even without framing, it totally transformed the room. It has become the centerpiece — not just visually, but emotionally. It glows. It carries warmth. This is the way beauty finds you.

Now I’m getting ready to move again — a new space, a new beginning. But it won’t be blank walls this time. This painting is coming with me. It will be the first thing I hang, the heart of the new home. The rest — all the stories, travels, and fragments — will follow and find their place around it.

It’s no longer just a painting - it's part of my world now.
